Most people never need the API Playground. Search, Finder and Verify do the same job on an easier screen.
Use the Playground when you want to see what a developer would get from Tomba. The API is how other software connects to Tomba, and the Playground lets you try it without writing code.
Before you start
Open API Keys once on this device. The Playground needs your key to run. If you skip this, you see No API key on this device and a Go to API Keys button.
Run a lookup
Step 1. Open Playground, under API > Playground.
Step 2. Pick a lookup from the Endpoint list, such as /email-finder. Its name and a short description appear below the list.
Step 3. Fill in the fields. For /email-finder, type tomba.io in the domain field and a person's name in the full_name field. You can leave fields marked optional empty.
Step 4. Select Send request.
⚠️ Important: This runs a real search and uses real credits, billed like any other lookup.
What the results mean
The answer appears in the response panel. It's what a developer's software would get back for the same lookup. If the lookup fails, you see Request failed and the reason.
💳 Credits: The cost shows next to Send request, such as "Costs 1 finder credit". Finder credits are your search credits.
Common questions
Why can't I select Send request?
A required field is empty. The Playground names the missing field below the button.
Why can't I find Reveal in the list?
The Playground doesn't cover Reveal. Use Reveal in the app.
How does a developer connect software to Tomba?
They can use a client, a ready-made code package that links your software to Tomba. All of them are on Libraries, under API > Libraries. We have guides for Node.js, PHP, Python, Ruby, Go, Rust, Dart, Deno, Elixir, Lua, Perl and R.
