Report a wrong email and claim a credit back

Tell us when an email bounces or data is wrong, and claim a credit back for a confirmed hard bounce.

Written by Tomba.io Team

Tell us when an email bounces or Tomba shows wrong data. A hard bounce means the address doesn't exist, so the receiving mail server refused your message for good. If we confirm a hard bounce, you get a credit back.

Send a report

Step 1. Start your report in one of two ways:

  • On a results page, click the flag button at the right of the screen. Its label is "Report incorrect data".

  • Open Settings > Profile, find Flag Incorrect Data under Report Issue and click Report.

The Flag Incorrect Data card in the Report Issue section, with arrows on View Reports and Report

Step 2. Fill in the report:

  • Data Type: what you're reporting, such as Email or Phone.

  • Value: the item itself, such as [email protected].

  • Reason: for a bounce, choose Hard Bounce.

  • Additional Details (optional): paste the bounce message from your mail server.

Step 3. Click Submit Report.

Follow your report

Click View Reports on your Profile page to open Data Flags. The Status column shows where each report stands, and the Credits column shows any credit you got back.

What it means

Pending

We're reviewing your report

Confirmed

We agree with your report

Rejected

The report didn't meet the conditions

We may ask you for the delivery log, the date you sent the message, and your domain's email settings.

What qualifies for a credit

Where the email came from

When it qualifies

Email Finder, Domain Search, Author Finder or LinkedIn Finder

Its confidence score was 60 or higher when Tomba showed it

Email Verifier

It was marked deliverable, and you sent to it within 30 days of verifying it

You also need all of these:

  • The message hard-bounced because the address doesn't exist.

  • You sent it from a domain set up with SPF, DKIM and DMARC. These settings prove a message really came from your domain. Whoever manages your email can check them.

  • You followed the anti-spam policy.

What doesn't qualify

  • Soft bounces, which are temporary failures such as a full mailbox or a server that's down

  • Messages delivered to a spam or junk folder

  • Messages blocked or slowed down by the recipient's server or filters, including because of your message or your sending reputation

💳 Credits: You get 1 search credit back for each confirmed hard bounce. Other reports fix the data but give no credit.

Common questions

Where does my credit go?

It goes back into your current usage window, which is the period until your credits next reset.

Can I report the same email twice?

Not while your first report is pending.

Can I report a wrong phone number or company?

Yes. Choose the matching Data Type. We'll use your report to correct the data, but it gives no credit back.
